I grew up in Los Angeles County, CA and had many opportunities to learn and practice Spanish.  Because my baby brother was in a near drowning accident,  my family hired individuals to help, most of
whom spoke Spanish.  I  served a mission for the LDS Church in Caracas, Venezuela, after which I earned a teaching certificate from BYU in English and Spanish.  A few years later, we moved back to Caracas, Venezuela for my husband's work and ended up living in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Guatemala for seven years.  We returned in 2000 and I have been teaching Spanish ever since.  A highlight of my life has been my experience teaching Oakwood students and working with the Oakwood staff.
